Share a Dream!

When I see the beautiful children in rural Cambodia, I see my sisters and brothers.  My dream is to help them complete school.

This new school year marks a milestone for our work at PeopleStories ... 2 of our scholarship students are progressing from secondary school to high school. Woohoo!

To continuously grow with these 2 students, we need to explore new ways to better support them at their new chosen high school in Bakong.  We already learned about the new standards of school uniforms, shoes and even the style of school bags.  More importantly, we want to ensure the quality of learning in the new environment.

​With help from Ratanak from the Ministry, Brother Bunchheang and I visited Bakong High School with the intent to seek for support and collaboration.  

To me, it feels a bit unusual being a nonprofit organisation for ‘asking' from the locals instead of offering help.  I didn’t know how the conversation would go?!

I was seated in the school office and director Prem greeted us warmly.  Next, I noticed the many proud photos on the wall of Michelle Obama’s visit to the school.  I said to myself, “There are some big help for this school ;-)"

The dialogue was fruitful.  Not only do we agree on the importance of helping students complete school (reduce dropout is our prime focus),  but director Prem also agreed to work with PeopleStories closely to support our scholarship program.  

When he offered to provide free after school coaching classes to our 2 scholarship students, I was over the moon!

Thank you director!  I look forward to a mutually beneficial working relationship with you and your teachers.
