Alleviate the Impact of War on Children |
PeopleStoires Emergency Appeal
BackgroundOn July 24, 2025, a territorial dispute between Cambodia and Thailand escalated into direct armed conflict along the Cambodia–Thailand border. Although both nations reached an unconditional ceasefire on July 28, 2025, hostilities resumed in December, reportedly due to a Thai attack, resulting in the seizure of several border towns. On December 7, 2025, a brief 30-minute skirmish occurred between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to the Khmer Times on December 16, 2025, “Indiscriminate airstrikes on Siem Reap province yesterday carried out by Thailand using F-16 fighter jets have triggered the worst refugee crisis in Cambodia since the Khmer Rouge era. Nearly half a million Cambodians have fled their homes, with seven provinces affected.
Why This MattersThe ongoing conflict has displaced families, leaving many children in temporary shelters with limited access to food and educational resources. The circumstances for many displaced children include:
>Suffering from hunger due to insufficient food supplies
>Lacking notebooks, pencils, and other essential learning materials
>Unable to continue their education
>Experiencing stress and uncertainty
Response from PeopleStoriesPeopleStories is a purpose-driven organization committed to enhancing access to education for communities in need. During this critical time, we are collaborating with the Department of Education and school directors to provide relief to children and families who have fled their homes and arrived in our districts. We are dedicated to promptly delivering support to areas where displaced children are in urgent need, which includes:
>>>Providing rice to ensure that children and their families have enough to eat
>>>Distributing stationery kits containing notebooks, pencils, and other essentials for children to attend school
Our goal is to provide these essential items to 500 familes immediately.
($25 for rice + $10 for school supplies) x 500 families = US$17,500.00
Your generous support enables us to respond quickly, effectively, and directly to the children who need help the most.
