"1 in 5 children drop out of school in Cambodia"
Our Purpose Transforming Lives Through Quality Education Prior to COVID19, 51% of children in Cambodia were already unable to read and write a simple text by the age of 10. Furthermore, 1 in 5 students dropout when transitioning to secondary school. Unprecedentedly, COVID19 has impacted 1.3bn learners around the world and the impact is far more negative in emerging countries like Cambodia. Children dropout of school in rural areas are rising dramatically due to low engagement and/or employment as a result of family financial struggle. PeopleStories believes that these children deserve a fighting chance at a better life through education. That’s why we launched in 2017 an initiative ‘School for Life’ dedicated to helping students access education, for a brighter tomorrow. |

"Together, we can help childen in rural Cambodia complete school."
School For Life Better in school. Better in life. Education is power! It sets a foundation for development and better opportunities for children and families to break their poverty cycle. Since 2017, our ‘School for Life’ program has been providing more than 276 scholarships to children not only to access quality education but more importanly to gain the confidence to pursue their dreams. PeopleStories ambition is help reach a school completion rate of 95% (instead of the 80% country average). In 2022, our goal is to increase scholarships to 150 children in great need of help (as compared to 120 in 2021). |
"We often witness under-aged mothers in our rural communities."
STEM For Girls Greater Equality to education and employability for girls Girls and women are still significantly underrepresented in many ways. In our rural communities, we often witness under-aged mothers which leads to greater physical risks as well as extending social issues such as lower educational levels, financial crisis and unstoppable poverty cycle. Giving girls equal opportunities to pursue STEM (Sicence, Technology, Engineering, Mathermatic) education and be part of the 'future workforce' helps enhance inclusion and reduce gender inequality. PeopleStories believes in equality and will bring STEM For Girls (S4G) to our 2nd year of running. S4G is the top level of our School for Life program. It enables selected high potential girls to obtain STEM education. Access to quality STEM education is non-existent in the rural villages, hence S4G is bringing (literally) young girls on the road to move to their capital city Phnom Penh for better STEM education. |
