"Although I can't swim, I love coming to the river and play with my friends.   On this particular day, my friend was carrying me around in the water.  I am 6 years old and studying in Grade 1.  I like eating rice and orange is my favorite colour.  My father works at a construction site and my mother is a cleaner."

Floating Village Oil Painting

  • There are four floating villages around Siem Reap 
  • They consist of stilted houses, where houses and buildings rest on tall, thin stilts that keep the occupants dry during the wet season, and also floating houses, which are regularly moved around according to water levels.
  • The community sustain themselves mainly on catching fish and shrimp, but also harvest some land crops during the dry season.
  • This hand and oil painted artwork is from a local artist in Siem Reap.​
