Celebrating the Best e-Learning Project Award : A Collective Achievement in Transforming Education in Rural Cambodia We are thrilled to announce PeopleStories Mobile Digital School (MDS) was recognized with the Best e-Learning Project award at a distinguished ceremony hosted by LearnX Award, a leading Australian international awards program that celebrates excellence and innovation in learning, development, and talent management. This recognition is not just a testament to the impact MDS has made but also a celebration of the incredible collaboration and support from everyone involved - from our passionate sponsor Lloyd’s of London to the children who have participated or completed the course. This award underscores the collective effort of our entire community, and we are deeply grateful for everyone’s contribution toward making this innovative project a success.
A Journey of Transformation: From Chalk & Talk to Flick & Click PeopleStories began its mission to transform education in rural Cambodia in 2017. Founded by Victoria Miloschewsky, our purpose has always been clear - provide children in rural areas the education they deserve, empowering them to dream and create better futures for themselves. From scholarships, bicycles, and school facilities to teacher training programs, PeopleStories has consistently focused on holistic support for education in Cambodia. But as the world changed rapidly during the pandemic, so did the needs of the education sector. The global health crisis exposed significant gaps in education, particularly in Cambodia, where 3.2 million learners were affected, and around 70% had no access to online learning resources. This was a wake-up call for both educators and organizations like PeopleStories, propelling us to take action and develop a solution tailored to the local context.
The Mobile Digital School: A New Way of Learning At the heart of the Mobile Digital School is accessibility and inclusivity. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports in Cambodia, PeopleStories launched a “School-On-Wheels” in 2022. This innovative mobile classroom is equipped with digital learning tools that travel to rural schools in the Bakong district of Siem Reap, bringing quality education directly to the children who need it most. This initiative targets not just academic learning but also vocational skills, essential for the students’ long-term success. Children are introduced to technology, creative problem-solving, and life skills that enable them to dream bigger and more confidently. More than just a mobile classroom, the course represents a future where Cambodian children can keep pace with their global peers, gain access to a world of information, and take control of their educational journey. Our partnership with the Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports has been crucial to the success of this project. The shared vision between PeopleStories and the ministry is clear: both organizations are committed to providing every child the opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of their socio-economic background. As Mr. Tann Reangsey, Director of the Ministry in Bakong district, pointed out, “This partnership has thrived on open communication and a shared commitment to the children’s future.”
Our Donors: Every donation, whether large or small, has contributed to bringing the Mobile Digital School to life. Full gratitude to Lloyd’s of London who has entrusted us with their charity grants since the inception of our Mobile Digital School. Every dollar has directly impacted the lives of children in rural Cambodia, and for that, we extend our deepest gratitude. The Teachers and Volunteers: You have been the backbone of this project, ensuring that the children receive not just the tools but the guidance they need to make the most of their education. Whether through digital literacy training, mentoring, or simply encouraging the children to stay curious and engaged, your work has laid the foundation for the course’s success. Looking Ahead: Expanding the Reach of Mobile Digital School While the award from LearnX is a momentous occasion, it also motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The success of the Mobile Digital School course in the Bakong district has opened up conversations about expanding this initiative to other rural areas in Cambodia. Our goal is to reach even more children with this transformative education model, empowering them with the skills they need to navigate an increasingly digital world. Additionally, this project has shown us the importance of adaptability in education. By integrating digital tools and life-skills training, we are not only providing children with academic knowledge but also preparing them for real-world challenges. As we move forward, we aim to refine the Mobile Digital School course further, making it even more effective, engaging, and accessible to children in remote areas.
This Best e-Learning Project Award is not just a recognition of our course - it’s a celebration of what we can achieve when we come together for a shared purpose. The Mobile Digital School has the potential to change lives, and with your continued support, we can extend its reach and impact even more children in rural Cambodia.
Together, we are not just building a school on wheels. We are building futures. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
